The Shadow Wars

Event 3 Skirmish
Front line fight

Dirk sent the party to fight in the front lines as he is now annoyed with the newer party members for believing that they have any say or rights in guild matters. The gall of these sell-swords and there self-righteousness has thoroughly aggravated Dirk and he just wants them out of his sight. Dirk sends Acorn and Lesath to battle with the party in his stead.

The battle begins and the party was able to not only fight well, but Grognak lead a charge for the enemies war machines. Craith shone on the battlefield when he erupted; clearing a 4×4 square of enemies and allies alike. The party was able to secure payment for fighting and the destruction of several war machines. Zastam was well pleased with their accomplishments.

After awhile the armies withdrew from the field when a Netherees General summons a Shadow Drake to battle Zastam’s Dracolitch; that had been decimating his troops with its breath weapon and turning them into undead. PooPoo a party member had fallen to this breath weapon as-well.

Event 2 Sabotage
Dirks tests

The party decided to sabotage enemy supplies. Traveling through an old path in the mountains they came upon several shadow hounds that had stepped through tiny tears in the planes. During this quest Dirk set up several challenges for the party to discern their value. Firstly he placed a value of 5pp on the capture of a shadow hound. To see if they could follow directions, and were trustworthy. In this he found them severely lacking, as Zarah and Thren specifically sought to kill every hound the party came across. Ultimately denying Dirk what they thought to be of value to him…Simple minded fools. Dirk tested there durability to see if they would ultimately be able to survive there inevitable fight against Zastam, and if they would see the wisdom in dropping a landslide on the enemy and the party. Dirk acknowledges Miggins greed and respects that he tried to blackmail him into keeping quiet as to who started the landslide. If only the little fool knew of the riches that awaited them all at the end of this all, and how little Dirk cared about what this party thought of him. Then he tested there diversity and ability to solve problems. Craith shined in this aspect when he fooled some shardiki, left them dumbfounded, and the parties joined ingenious plan to sabotage several ships with limited explosives. The party did well in dividing and executing this plan, however throughout the mission there bickering was intolerable. There work in controlling and stealing a ship was impressive; however Dirk could not allow an easier way for Zastam to infiltrate the great rip in the planes other than throwing his army at the Nethereese and loosing most of his army. The stalemate must continue until the Right has been preformed. This presented Dirk with a pristine opportunity to not only thwart what could assist Zastam, but to get back at the party for there incisive bickering by sinking the ship. Not to mention the Talon would soon be the wealthiest guild…country in all the realm and The Dark Talon Clan would possess it all.

Event 1 HVT

The Party decided to go after a HVT to interrogate and find out more information about Shars’ Chosen and her plans. Upon capture and return to allied troops the HVT was taken by the red mages to be interrogated.

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

The Tallon
Mission Debrief

The party runs into a village harassed by what the villagers describe as goblinoids. A few weeks ago men came and took all our young fighting men and women and now they are defenseless against the raiding partys. If the party decides to help or not they are still attacked along the road by the Orc raiding parties. If they help the villagers offer a wagon of grain to compensate the adventurers and warn them that the day after there men and women were recruited the villages dead rose from there graves and also headed south.
The party returns to the guild to see a small village has been built outside the guild battlements. Dwarfs, Orcs, and humans run about gathering and securing supplies from merchant stalls hastily put together along the eastern battlements. If stopped everyone directs the party to report to “Lord Dirk” up at the Talon. When the party enters the tavern they see Orcs and Dwarfs sitting and drinking on opposite sides of the hall. Other guild members sit at the bar drinking and lounge about. the first person up the stairs is stopped by Dirk’s brother who steps out of the shadows and places a dagger to their throat. “What’s yer business in the Talon and who are ye?” After answering and he gives them the clear to proceed to the second floor the bugbear steps back into the shadows and disappears.

When the party enters the second floor they see three groups of three Orcs, Dwarfs, and Humans arguing over a plan of attack as Dirk sits and quietly observes. Another group of red mages stand in the corner quietly talking to a tall and heavily cloaked figure (Zastam). Upon seeing a few familiar faces entering the room Dirk warmly greets them, because he doesn’t know the rest of the party. Upon receiving the information the party found out in the Tower, tales of their adventures, and new party members; Dirk informs them that they have been hired by Zastam (a Litch Lord) to complete a few tasks and Dirk doesn’t show any care as to when, how, or even if the party accomplishes them. Dirk doesn’t disclose what is really going on as he doesn’t know who among the party could be an accomplice of Zastam (plus the Litch is in the room) and decides to test them instead. One task is to Sabotage the enemy supplies or war machines. Another is to capture a HVT to interrogate, or they could call for Reinforcements. The party can do a Skirmish in the front lines, or Defend their own HVT from Netherees assassins. They continue these missions until the final plot is revealed.
